I bought a micro-start xp -10 a couple years ago. Used it a number times, very successfully. (please note the model number)
A week ago I tried using it again. Upon doing so the battery charger heated up very quickly and blew open the top of the battery charger. No longer usable.
The issue is the lithium battery, not the design of the charger overall. Lithium batteries, as has been in the news a number of times, have a potential problem.

Not sure I would buy it again… totally stupid that it doesn’t have an on/off switch. Have to store it very carefully in the vehicle, if anything touches the button, it will be on and wasting battery. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, so no opinion on that. The clamps are heavy duty though.
