   I needed one of these for a while because I work with cars all the time. I wanted some quality and decided to buy it because of its brand and the many positive reviews. Well, the jumpstarter worked well one time, after that it was just plastic throwaway. I charged as recommended but it wouldn’t hold much juice…maybe it was defective I’m not sure. At this point I won’t even bother for an exchange. I will just go with another brand.

   Craftsman has been around since forever and was owned by Sears for many decades before they sold it off to someone else. Who that is, I’m not sure, but the point is that the Craftsman name is what drew me to this device. Craftsman is well known for making quality tools that won’t break the bank. Although, that remains to be seen with the new owner of the Craftsman name. The device, while a bit weighty, is still a nice portable size. The build quality feels good on this too. It’s got a nice carry handle that can also allow it to be hung on a wall too. The device comes with itself, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, a 12V DC Car Charger and Battery clamps. Obviously, the device’s primary function is to jump start batteries but this one also has the option to charge other devices like your phone via the USB charging cable noted above. The jump starter itself can also be charged via the USB cable or via the 12V car charger – as you’re driving the car you just jump started (in theory, anyways). Charging via the USB cable is much slower, though, as the instructions say it would take 7-8 hours versus 4 hours via the 12V car charger. It also has a handy light you can turn on too. The light can be solid always on OR it can flicker on and off – like if you need to signal an SOS to grab someone’s attention. Nice touch. Unfortunately, I don’t have any dead batteries at the moment so I wasn’t able to jump start a car, but I did take my phone for spin on it (see pics). Charging my phone via the USB “IN” port it was hitting about 1360 MaH but wasn’t able to charge any faster. My phone simply said “Charging” – that means the charger isn’t capable of sending out anything higher than 2Amps to devices so it can’t reach the “Rapid Charge”. This is due to the USB-A port on the device as it can’t handle anything more to get to the “Charging Rapidly” stage. Not that big of a deal because, again, you’re not buying this thing to charge your phone. So, while I wasn’t able to jump start any vehicles, I feel confident this will provide me the back up protection I need just in case I have battery issues. If I run into a situation where the jump starter failed, I will certainly update my review here but I, for now, I recommend this.
