A few years back, I inherited a Jeep Patriot. Inside it was a Halo Bolt battery jumper. After looking at it, it was hard to believe that this little thing could actually jump start a dead battery! But, not long after that my battery actually died, and I was desperate, and decided to give the little Halo a try. I was gobsmacked when it worked perfectly, and jump-started a totally dead battery! This little guy has earned our trust, and so I bought a second Halo Bolt, the Compact version, for our other Jeep! This smaller unit, has the same specs as the older, and slightly larger one I got with the Patriot. I strongly recommend this excellent product to anyone who wants to make sure they don’t get stuck with a dead battery in their vehicles! Small, well made, and easy to stow, you will NOT be disappointed in the Halo Bolt Compact!

On two occasions, this Halo jump starter has done its job. The first time was when I left my keyless car ignition in Accessory position for a day in the cold winter, running the battery down. The second time was this week, after my car sat for a week in my very cold garage during the height of this winter. I have a battery voltage meter in the cigarette lighter outlet, which showed a starting voltage of 10 and the engine would not crank. Again, Halo came to the rescue. It’s easy to connect to my battery terminals and the green light indicators on the right side are extremely helpful to determine if the Halo needs recharging. I keep the jump starter in my car for these hopefully rare occasions.

I bought this in June 2021. Never had a chance to use it until last week, I used it to charge my mobile phone. It charged fairly quickly. Then this morning, I discovered my SUV’s battery died. So I followed the instructions that are printed on the outside of its carrying bag, waited for the green light bars to become solid, and started my engine. I couldn’t believe that this “little box” could easily jumpstart my SUV (= 2010 Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD)! You no longer need those bulky, heavy battery jumpstarters! Plus, I can easily store the bag underneath the driver seat for easy access.
I also like that it has a floodlight that changes from solid white light to red blinking light to solid red light in case I need it for roadside emergency.
It feels like a solid piece of equipment, but I’m not an expert on assessing its built. I just know that I highly recommend having one of these in your vehicle!

Fortunately, I haven’t had a chance to use this to jump start my car but the USB charger does work. One problem I had is that the on/off buttons are too easy to accidentally push. I somehow turned on the emergency light when the unit was in the carrying case. If I hadn’t discovered this soon after, it would have discharged the jumper battery eventually. I’m trying to figure out a way to put a cover around the jumper to prevent this from happening. If I end up using the jump starting function, I’ll edit this review. ! star taken off for the button issue.
