   I live in AZ, and the battery pack starters do not handle the heat well – in all fairness, I forget to charge them too. The 12v battery for my car happens to be in the trunk, which won’t open when the battery dies/gets too low. Whoops. Enter this little unit, which meets my needs perfectly. I don’t need maintain it, and I just need enough amps to close the relays to my main battery in the car. Luckily there’s a direct feed under the hood (first picture). I was able to charge the unit from a portable usb power pack, which is pretty handy. Little led on the front can be turned on by holding down the flashlight button. The unit needs to be turned on (press the power button once – you should see a % flash and hear a click) when charging from the clamps, 12v (w/ cigarette lighter) or usb – I almost thought the unit was defective at first. Charges relatively fast from battery or cigarette adapter – usb takes awhile. Added a few pictures of the 300mini since I couldn’t find anything online. Update: 10/01/2019 – This thing has saved me twice now, still working like champ as of this morning. Added a new picture, my battery only had 6.4v, per the LCD. Still charged up to 100% and allowed me to start the car in minutes. Update: 12/11/2019 – Jumped a co-workers Toyota Tacoma with it, his battery was at 5.8v and wouldn’t even charge the unit. Took me less than a minute to charge it from my car, and started his right up, first time.

   It does take a charge from the car battery or mini USB (takes a long time to charge). I haven’t need to jump my car and can’t comment on whether it will help me in my time of need, but the quality is subpar. The holes for the mini USB port doesn’t line up. Feels cheap.

   Update: DO NOT BUY!!! Stick with cables. This product failed when I needed it to work. My car battery died while my kid had an iPad charging. So, I’d attached this batteryless charger to the battery terminals. It would charge itself to full, but it would drain as soon as I’d started the car with barely a few cranks. My car didn’t start. I tried repeating the process, but my car battery keeps draining each time. A Good Samaritan helped jump started my car. I’d even disconnect the cable from the battery before jumping with the Rezervo, but it would discharge immediately to the car’s electronics.

   Super capacitors don’t have to be maintained and pre charged like a battery that will lose its charge over time. You just connect it to the battery and if it has over about 8 volts (enough to turn lights on but not start the engine) it will charge the capacitor in about a minute or two and you can fire up your engine. These seem to have more instant power boost for the rating also. No more going to jump your car and finding out that your booster pack doesn’t have a sufficient charge.
