This unit fits Makita batteries very well. A 18-20Volt battery is more than enough to turn over small engines with an electric start. This worked really well for that purpose. You could use it on 4 cylinder engines, but don’t expect it to crank an engine over for an extended period of time. You’ll probably melt the wires. Used correctly, this is a great tool.

After installing a backup camera in our old farm truck, we found the battery too low to start our Chevy 350 engine, so we decided to give this new “tool” a test. We hooked this adapter up with a fresh Dewalt 20V battery, and the truck fired right up. It’s a great tool for those times when the battery is just a little too weak to crank over. We did try using it on our old diesel tractor with a completely dead battery, and it wasn’t enough, so it’s best for low but not totally flat batteries.
One thing to note is that the LED indicator stays lit if the Dewalt battery is left plugged in, which could drain it over time. We just unplug it when not in use. Overall, it’s a handy tool to have around the farm for a quick boost when needed, and it saves us from having to drag out the big jumper cables every time.

Neat idea to use your tool batteries for a jump starter. I’m not sure how it would fare on a big truck engine but it seemed to work just fine on the lawn tractor when I had to move it from the garage yo the shed a few days ago. A friend used it to start his portable saw mill, too, with great success. The cables are a little thinner than I’d like to see for using on a car or truck engine of any larger capacity but, if it starts it quickly, there will hopefully not be time enough for them to overheat. Prolonged cranking should be avoided with this, though. Likely the smaller battery will drain before lengthy cranking times are achieved, though. The unit itself is sturdy and looks like it will be able to take a few knocks. A carry case to keep it together would have been nice but I found a suitable container to put it in and keep it safe. Recommended for a handy power source via tool batteries you already have available.

Got this to keep in my pickup as I always have milwaukee batteries charged and ready to go. Don’t expect this to be able to boost my Duramax but I used it to jump start my neighbors ford escape at -30 and it saved me from having to take out my booster cables. Also used to jump start my side by side with no issues. The indicator lights are easy to follow and tell you when it is ok to try starting the engine. Would definitely recommend buying this just to have on hand for convenience.

Great jumper! I added this to my car’s inventory should I ever need it.
It works great and functions as it should. There is a voltage regulator built inside to deliver about 13.5 volts. It steps down the voltage from the battery’s 18v to 13.5v.
The wire is on the thicker side and the clamps are easy to handle and use. The length of wire is smaller than other jumpers but it works great so I can’t really complain.
It’s very compact and delivers just enough power if you have a weak but good battery. It does not produce enough power to jump a car with completely dead battery or bigger engines. Overall a great product to have on hand!

works . It doesn’t work the best but I used it once on my 4wheeler. It started it but I had to leave it on there for a hot minute.

I found this to be a very convenient jump starter as it works with all of my Makita cordless tool batteries. I was able to successfully use it to start my car when it’s battery started to die. However when I went to use it on my lawn mower that had sat all winter it would not start it without charging for a long period. My impression was that if the battery is too low of voltage this jump starter will only be able to charge the battery. Which means it doesn’t really have the cold cranking amperage required to start an engine. The other observation I made was that there is no kind of charge indicator for the Makita battery. Given that this starter will be used with a battery that comes off a tool, it would be helpful if it showed how much power the battery had left in it before trying to jump start an engine with it. Overall I am happy with it because it is small, lightweight, and works with my existing tools. It is a great addition to have in the tool box so you don’t get stranded on a jobsite after someone forgot to turn off the headlights.

I don’t have a dead battery to actually test this with. But it seams to work like it should. The green light comes on when I insert the Milwaukee battery, the green light blinks after connecting to the car battery indicating it is charging. It blinked for about 4 minutes topping off the charge in the battery. Then the green light went solid to indicate it was ready to start. So it seems to function like it’s suppose to. This is one of those items that you hope you never have to use, but certainly glad to have it on hand in the event you do. Worth the money imo.

Fits the Makita battery just fine. I’m not sure how many cranking amps you’ll get out of this nor if it will have a negative effect on your tool battery but for the price it is not a bad idea to have it with you in case you are in an emergency. If I have a dead car battery I will update my review to include information on the jump start process. So far I have only been able to verify that it connects to the makita battery and indicates “ready” with a green LED.
