   I bought this battery maintainer due to the snow weather and working from home, and since my car is not near a power socket. It is the only one on the market that is a *portable* battery maintainer, booster, etc! I use it with the adapter clamps accessory(sold separately) and a service battery to keep my main battery topped off for really long periods of time specially in the winter.

   I’m glad a known company finally made one like this with all the advantages of a battery maintainer, but in a portable device. It really works at advertised!

   This portable battery maintainer will keep your battery topped off. It will prolong the car battery life when properly used as a maintainer.

   I paid a lot of money for something I thought would be useful. The first one arrived and would not charge itself. The second one arrived and appeared to be charging but will not turn on or charge a battery. Apparently these have a very short shelf life. I like the wired CTEK chargers. This is junk.

   I bought the CTEK CS FREE 12V Portable Battery Charger five months ago to maintain my car’s battery charge when it sits unused for a couple of days. Since my car is parked in a garage with no power, I needed a solution that didn’t rely on mains electricity—this CTEK charger delivers exactly what I need.

   ✔ Works well – Keeps the battery topped up as expected.
   ✔ Recharges fairly quickly – No long wait times between uses.
   ✔ Portable and convenient – Ideal for garages or locations without power access.

   One minor drawback – The how-to-use manual is a collection of line drawings in a cartoon style, which can be confusing at first. A more standard format with text, diagrams, and tables would have been clearer. Still, you get used to it.

   I haven’t had to use its other features yet (reviving a flat battery, charging a phone, etc.), but for maintaining my battery’s State of Charge to a reasonable level, it works perfectly.

   Fait bien son travail , sort 20A en charge sur une Porsche 718 Cayman S . Construction de bonne facture racé. Seul petit inconvénient il n’est pas prévu une charge de la batterie du véhicule par la prise allume cigare, dommage seule la charge du cs free peut se faire par cette prise suite à l’achat du câble prévu à cet usage . Mais cet appareil est à recommander.

    I find it particularly peculiar that CTEK did not include a charging cable with the CS Free that would run from its XT60 outlet, directly to CTEK’s own proprietary battery connector. Instead, the provided cable goes to a pair of standard battery clips… and not particularly good ones! They sell their CTEK “Comfort Connect” adapters to ease the process of attaching a CTEK charger to the battery, but don’t include the cable to connect to it! Very annoying!

    I used this to help keep my old and rarely driven SUV’s battery at a proper state of charge. It worked as advertised. I liked how simple it was to use and I also like the idea that it is gentler on my old car’s old battery than a traditional jump start would be.
