   3 stars is generous since this is an entry level jump starter with inflated specs. It’s fair to ding a few points when product specs are not honest. It does have some of the features claimed such a battery % full LCD, battery cables and so forth. No, it will not do 2000 amps like it says. It would smoke and melt way before then since the wires aren’t nearly that large and a little 1 lb battery can’t do even a fraction of that anyway. Capacity testing of the battery shows a 16V DC output with 4 5Amp-hour capacity. That 16V output could damage some vehicles, ATV or other vehicles not designed to have 16V on it. I tried jump starting a Polaris ATV and it started clicking wildly as soon as the charger touched it because 16V is way too much for a 12V battery system. That’s how they’re trying to get a fast boost rate, by having the voltage too high rather than having a regulated strong voltage at 13 or 14V. It charges via USB-C although the directions don’t say anything about it or which port charges it. There’s 1 button on it. All that does it turn on the LCD or long press to turn on a flashlight. Cons: There is no way to turn it off since it has no actual ON-OFF button. The button only turns on the flashlight or the display. The DC output is always ON so be careful. Never plug in the wires unless using it. That type of black plastic tends to break easily, especially when cold out such as when you’d be jump starting a car. The battery wires are WAY too small be rated for 2000 amps as it says. It looks like 10 AWG wire inside which is usually rated for 20 -25 amps depending on the length and voltage. Even so, a 10 AWG wire would handle more when it’s short and when used briefly. That’s why they say never use it more than 3 seconds at a time. If you’re vehicle needs to crank more than 3 seconds to start this is not the one to use. The battery clamp wires are too short because in most cases you won’t be able to reach the chassis ground where the negative should go. They don’t know such things and want us to clip this right on the battery poles which sometimes is not an option or safe. That’s not a good idea. Mechanics don’t clamp onto the battery negative itself because we want that last connection (which tends to spark) located well away from the battery where flammable H2 gas can be emitted by a battery under load, just as when you were just trying to start it a minute ago. The battery clamps close well but are all plastic with plastic hinges so if you drop one in the cold, it would probably crack. The wires and teeth are brass / copper. Pros It has an LCD % full display. There is a flashlight. The battery clips have warning lights that blink – that also shows there’s power on it. The battery lead wires have silicon insulation which remains flexible in cold weather. The lead wires are flexible multi-strand type. Conclusion: This was designed by marketing people who do marketing and don’t work on cars or know basic electronics. Under ideal conditions if may work to start a small car but don’t expect it to handle heavy loads and certainly not 2000 amps like it says. If I needed a jump starter, I would get a good one. I won’t be using this one at all because I don’t want to test which $40,000 vehicles can stand having their electronics and engine control computer jolted with 16 volts. If it takes out the engine computer that would cost thousands. I wouldn’t mention that except it’s putting out too much voltage at first. It should be a lower voltage around 14.4V with a stronger output. Not high voltage.

   In the old days, carrying jumper cables in your trunk was all you needed for a roadside or parking lot emergency if you had an old car battery or failing alternator. In case a good Samaritan is unavailable or so you can be the helper, this portable jump starter is the way to go. It’s only 3 or 4 times the thickness of a cell phone, so it’s quite compact. It comes in a nice, zippered carrying case. One half of the case holds the charger. The other half holds the jumper cables and a USB charger for the unit. When it arrives, you first plug it into a socket with the USB charger. Then, just follow the directions in the included pamphlet or printed on the box exterior. It says it can start 5-10 cars when it’s fully charged. Hopefully, we won’t need to put it to the test. The red one connects to the car battery’s positive pole, which either has a red cover on it or an embossed plus sign on the car battery itself. The black one connects to the negative terminal, which has an embossed minus symbol nearby on the battery. Once the terminals are connected to the cables ( assuming you already charged the charger and inserted the cables into the charger), turn the car’s ignition to Start. Once it starts, you remove first the negative and then the positive terminal clamps, taking care not to touch the clamps to each other or to any other metal within the car. You don’t want to cause a short circuit. If the car didn’t start on the first attempt, wait 30 seconds between attempts. Consult a mechanic if all attempts fail. This little device will prepare us for emergencies should the need arise. I wouldn’t recommend storing it in a car during the heat of Summer or outside below freezing temperatures as lithium batteries are temperature sensitive. It comes with an emergency flashlight feature to make it easier to identify car parts in the dark. I think it’s easier to use than jumper cables because it’s easy to tell where the cable clamps go and you don’t need another running car to use it.

   I had a feeling my car battery was dying. I thought it was because I was leaving a light on or didn’t close the hatch all the way. Some days, the battery would just click away. Then I started wondering if maybe there is something else draining my battery. That’s when I decided if I didn’t want to get stranded in the boonies on one of my frequent out-of-town expeditions, I better get a jump starter. Honestly, I didn’t even know there was such a thing till I began looking around on ezysurvival.com. Sure enough, soon after it arrived, my car wouldn’t start. I really needed to be somewhere, so had high hopes when I popped the lid and hooked the alligator clamps. My Toyota Sequoia coughed once, then cranked right up! I was so glad to have this portable jump starter. I found out the hard way It only has one start in it, so you need to be sure to recharge it after every use. I finally got a new battery to replace the 10 year old battery I had been using. I keep this quick start jumper alternative in the console at all times now, just in case I leave a light on or don’t close the hatch all the way. This thing is a bona vides game changer. It won’t charge your battery, but it is just enough to give you the bump you need.
