   I had a recent experience where I was helping someone out trying to jump start their car with jumper cables attached to my car’s battery. Their battery was completely discharged so the jump start didn’t work. They had to call for emergency service and the guy that came had a device similar to this one. He educated me that these rechargeable battery chargers are much more reliable for deeply discharged batteries, and will often work when jumper cables won’t. So I found this jump starter and decided to give it a try. My first opportunity to use it was on my son’s car. He had left the door open and the lights discharged the battery. I connected the jump starter to his car and it fired right up. I had charged the unit to a full charge but hadn’t used it for almost 2 months. When I used it on my son’s car, the unit’s battery was still showing 100% charged so it appears to hold a charge well. The unit comes with a nice hard case (see pictures) that holds all of the cables, the air hose, the adapters, and instructions which is nice. There are also some nice design features. For example, the positive and negative leads are different lengths (see picture) which helps prevent the two leads from touching and sparking if you’ve got one lead attached to a battery. It also has a light and ports to charge your phone and other devices via its USB-A port. I also tested the air pump. I deflated one of my 22 inch tires on my SUV down to 29PSI and then refilled it with the air pump on this unit to get it back to the manufacturer’s recommendation of 40PSI. You are able to set the desired PSI and when that value is reached the unit shuts off automatically which is nice. That process took 4 minutes and 54 seconds which is average at best. But, the primary purpose of this unit is to provide jump starts, the inflator can be considered a bonus. I have a separate inflator that runs off my car’s battery that cost more than this unit, and it is only an inflator. But it’s primary purpose is to refill tires and therefore it is much faster. After refilling my tire this unit was completely cool and showed no signs of overheating. The only minor negatives of this unit are: 1) refilling my tire reduced the remaining battery life from 4 bars to 3 bars so if you use it to refill a tire you need to remember to recharge it so its ready when you need it for a jump start; 2) There are a number of buttons and clicks required to get to the functionality that you need for the air pump, so while its not overwhelming, you will need to keep the instruction manual with the unit for reference; and 3) as with many imported products, the instruction manual is written in slightly broken English, but I’ve seen worse and it is understandable. So all in, this is a great unit for what it costs and it provides peace of mind for those situations where you have a dead battery or low tires. Recommend the unit.

   This item arrived before time and after the charging of the batteries I put this item to the test. First, I jump started a riding lawn mower, this was handled with ease, no problem. I then charged this item again, wanted a full charge. I went out and jump started a Chevy Avalanche which had a dead battery, started right up. Two days later with a fully charged unit I inflated a completely flat tire that was on a Chevy Avalanche. Immediately after inflating the tire, I attempted to jump start the vehicle. But not enough juice. But, this unit works, just jump start first and use the c cord adapter to top off the unit and inflate the tire. Good item and it does work.

   Let me say first I did not use the jump pack , just the compressor. The very first thing I had to do with the compressor before using it, frustrated me. That was connecting the air line. The air line must first be connected to the unit. To do this you need screw the threaded nipple on the line, into the unit itself. Two issues come up , 1) the threads and the socket are very small 2) the hose has a bend in it from being folded in the case (which is a nice case btw). The hose is fairly long, and the end nipple does not feature a rotating end. in order to make the attachment , you need to line up two small pieces and the turn the entire hose, with a bend in it, in order to screw it in. If I was stuck on the side of the road with cold hands and nervous to boot, this would be a nearly impossibly task, and I am typically pretty adept to carrying out such tasks. I would like a better way to attach the hose.
   The other thing to consider is the fact the compressor only goes up to 65 lbs. Admittedly this is plenty sufficient to keep tires safe, but if you run a truck like me, with load E tires, they run up to 80 psi in those. To fill 10 lbs in my tire took about 9 minutes. The compressor, compared to similar units Ive seen, is fairly quiet.
