   I am hoping to like the power provided for jump starting and the charging options. What I didn’t like was the handle being so low even when extended to its furthermost upright position. And ifin you’d like to go out and jump a fleet vehicle, the wheels are also under sized and plastic, which will transfer a lot of vibration into the unit. I didn’t get the opportunity yet to try it because I discovered that I can’t even assemble the unit as the bottom of the unit is so badly dented up into the cavity that the tabs won’t align for the wheel bracket. Also, the wheel brackets only have two cap screws each to mount to the base of the unit. The thread pitch is thicker than the thickness of the bottom panel. There’s no reinforcement for where the mount bolts attach to the bottom of the unit and they will very soon wallow out. And the cheesy axle clip, only one was in the package, to hold the tire(s) on is going to pop off the first time going outside on uneven terrain…. Not trying to complain, but, just sayin the truth. I will probably install a larger axle and larger rubberized tires and mount an extension to the handle so a fella doesn’t have to stoop over when wheeling this unit out to a fleet vehicle to jump or charge it. further, I will probably reinforce the mounting of the wheel brackets so as they will last and stay mounted securely for years of operation… But I trust the brand, they have always worked for me in the past. I hope its functionality is top notch.

    My charger arrived today in very good condition, no dents and no scratches. It was triple boxed
    Apparently, I did not read part of the product description correctly: “Includes compact wheels for easy storage and 4-gauge output cable with 12-foot reach”
    I interpreted this to mean that the 4-gauge output cables were 12-feet long, which was a huge selling point for my applications. I found, however, that the output cables are 6-foot long, separated they can reach 12 feet apart, or including the 6 foot power cord in combination, from electrical outlet to the clamps on the output cables, totals 12 feet.
    I haven’t used it yet, but have had years of positive experience with the Schumacher brand.

    I used to do nearly all of my own car repairs but now mostly just do regular maintenance on my car and generator (oil and filter changes, battery checks, etc.) – the generator sometimes sits for months without being used but living in Northern California, I’ve become accustomed to needing it at random during wildfire season during safety shutdowns. So to make sure it’s always ready when I need it, and for similar reasons with other engines, I keep a maintenance schedule to check everything out seasonally: start and run everything, top off the batteries, etc.

    I knocked it down a star for the plastic enclosure. It’s sturdy but it also gets into the 100+ F range in the summer here and the sun is brutal: this starter/charger absolutely MUST be stored out of the sunlight as even an afternoon sitting in the brutal sun would certainly warp the enclosure. Any color other than black would be better for those of us in hot, dry climates.
